The blind spots of our choices

James 1:14-16 But every person is tempted when he is drawn away, enticed and baited by his own evil desire (lust, passions). Then the evil desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin, and sin, when it is fully matured, brings forth death. Do not be misled, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect ( free, large, full) gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of all [that gives] light, in [the shining of] Whom there can be no variation [rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [as in an eclipse. Our ability to choose is wired into how God created us. However, when we make choices apart from God’s designed purpose, our choices have blind spots. The experienced driver will tell you that driving an automobile encompasses more than what you can see through the windshield. The review mirror, side mirrors and rear window provide additional sight, but they are limited. Blind spots abound when traveling in a moving vehicle. So it is with life, the pace can be lightening fast. Events can overwhelm anyone in the blink of an eye. James tells us that we make choices when our desires over ride our righteousness. The sight of what seems to be pleasing and excellent comes with blind spots that our selfish desires never consider. In the sixteenth verse James tells us that every good gift and perfect gift is from above. With gifts comes the light of the glorious gospel that illuminates the blind spots of life. 2 Corinthians 5:7 declare that we walk by faith and not by sight. When we minimize the desires of the senses, we reduce and eliminate the blind spots of choice! God never takes away our free will, but if we sacrifice our will to him, He (God) will grant us our desires, and will provide steadfast guidance protects us from the perils of temptations. Look, see and hear what God is saying each day, every hour and each minute. Be steadfast in your personal resolve. Eliminate the blind spots of carnal choices.
