Sacrifice; Philippians 3:10  That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,

The hunger Paul expresses in this one verse capsulated the depth and desire to know Christ with passion that far exceeds any human reasoning as we know it in today’s social climate.  The Apostle articulated his desire as having experienced Christ first hand, had a hunger for God that could only be satisfied by the ultimate sacrifice which is death.  Because Paul’s ministry was to the Gentiles he understood that his audience would only comprehend this by using Christ death as the goal in which we must strive for in terms of obedience and faith.

For some of us this depth of conviction seems to befuddled our thought process in today’s society of self reliance and instant gratification.   The complexity of life’s societal and cognitive chains keep us in the swirling state of issues and we continually ask  how do I get to this level of commitment that Paul expressed.  The process is not complicated when we apply the principles of Faith.  What are these principles?  First lets start with the example of Christ himself, his complete obedience to God can be seen in Matthew 4:4, the distinction between Spirit and flesh starts with obedience to the Word of God.  In order to accomplish the Philippians 3:10 kind of life it will require sacrifice according to Romans 12:1,2 and the exercise of 2 Cor 5:7.

So take this day to reflect on you level of sacrifice and renewing of your mind and the power of God will work in you to the utmost.  Remember this a life time journey not a destination calculated on the time it takes to get there!
