Philippians 2:7,but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; 8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.[ASV]
With the depth and understanding of human behavior, society has defined us by personality types, however Hebrews 4: 12 states; For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two- edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.[ASV]
So how does personality fit? In spiritual application it does not, the defining of our personalty should only be used as place of understanding that we must submit to the Word of God so he can conforms us to the image of His Son (Jesus). We must take great care that our personality profile is not a point of hindrance to our spiritual growth. Within our hidden parts only God’s word can cut to the debts of our intent and thoughts.
Just as John the Baptist understood the importance of emptying himself so Christ could increase. So it should be with us, our personalities should not be the defining theme of who we are. It should be a measure of what we need to sacrifice to the will of God with humility and obedience. So let your confession be one that gives to the increase of God ‘s will in your life.
